Four years ago, campaigning on the slogan of “Hope and Change,” President Obama was elected in a truly historic election. The President had a message of a brighter future and a positive outlook. While many Americans voted for “Hope and Change” in 2008, all they were given was failed recovery and an increasingly negative President.
Americans all over the country put their trust in President Obama, but instead of delivering on his message of “Hope and Change,” he disappointed millions of Americans who depended on him. He also disappointed many Democrats who worked hard to support him in 2008. Congressman Artur Davis, a former Democratic Representative from Alabama and 2008 Obama supporter, is one of them. Davis was one of President Obama’s top supporters in 2008, but after three and a half years of broken promises and disappointing leadership, Davis endorsed Governor Romney and is leading the campaign’s Former Obama Supporters and Democrats for Romney Coalition. Congressman Davis and many other Democrats realize that this election isn’t about partisan party politics; it’s about fixing our economy and restoring America’s greatness. At the Republican National Convention, Davis and other former Democrats spoke about how important it is that all Americans from all parties support Governor Romney.
Under President Obama, the U.S. economy has slowed and failed to the truly recover from the recession. Instead of listening to the American people like he promised to do, President Obama went ahead and spent trillions of dollars on programs like Obamacare and the Stimulus package, which set our economy back. Between the sixteen-trillion dollar of national debt and unemployment being above 8% for 43 straight months, Americans from all parties are beginning to realize that we need new leadership in the White House.
President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. Governor Romney’s promise is to help you and your family. Governor Romney wants to cut taxes, lower government spending, and repeal Obamacare. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents can all agree we need to come together and fix our problems. Unlike President Obama, Governor Romney knows how to work with the other party. As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney worked with a heavily Democratic legislature to fix Massachusetts’ economy; and eliminated a $3 billion deficit without borrowing money or raising taxes. At the end of his term, Massachusetts had accumulated a $2 billion rainy-day fund.
President Obama has disappointed Americans. He said if he couldn’t get the job done he would only be a one-term President. The time is now for Americans from all backgrounds and parts of the country to come together and elect Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States.
